The Minister of Investments and European projects, Marcel Boloș, announced the launch of a call of projects worth 56,000,000 euros for obtaining thermal energy from geothermal water, funds that are made available to local authorities.

Marcel Boloș said that there is already a precedent in the use of geothermal water for obtaining thermal energy with the inauguration in Oradea of the first geothermal station in the country, also built with European funds, a station that provides heat for hospitals, schools and other public buildings.

“This model can be replicated, also from European money. We have launched the national call for projects for thermal energy production from geothermal water – an open financing line to local authorities,” the Minister wrote on Facebook.

By the call call, it can be obtained financing for three purposes:

  • the construction, modernization and extension of the plants that produce thermal energy from geothermal water;
  • networks that carry thermal energy to the point of consumption – that is to public buildings;
  • the drilling and equipment necessary for the exploitation and re -training of the geothermal waters, as well as the heat exchange installations;
  • The technical equipment and equipment necessary for the production of thermal energy from geothermal sources.

“Romania has a huge geothermal potential, and the gas addiction can be reduced, if we offer the mayors the correct tools. The model from Oradea shows us that it can. Who has mature vision and projects can start the transformation,” said Boloș.

Each project can be a maximum value of 8,000,000 euros, 100% non -reimbursable grant. The request to access these funds can be submitted until the end of this year.
