Russia is trying to involve the Laos in the war against Ukraine, under the pretext of organizing Laos troops in demination operations in the Russian region of Kursk, the main information direction of the Ukrainian Ministry (GUR) announced on Saturday, informs EFE, taken over by Agerpres.

“Another country that Russia is trying to attract in the war is Laos. The Kremlin is currently organizing a combined detachment of engineering troops of the Laos Popular Army at the territories of the Russian Kursk region,” says Gur on his Telegram account.

According to the statement, “taking into account the significant dependence on the external aid, Laos's leadership initially expressed the availability to send up to 50 military geniuses to Russia and help to deminate the Kursk region.”

In addition, according to GUR, Laos offers free assistance to Russia by involving in a series of rehabilitation activities of Russian military, who were injured on the fronts of Ukraine.

“Hiding behind the humanitarian rhetoric, Russia tries to legalize the presence of a foreign military contingent on its territory, using it de facto to support military operations against Ukraine,” says the Ukrainian military intelligence service.

In the context of important losses in struggle and the gradual exhaustion of resources, Russian military and political leadership is looking for ways to continue the aggressive war against Ukraine, adds GUR.

“In addition to the massive involvement of mercenaries in Africa and Asia, as well as the units of the RPDC (Korean Democratic People's Republic or North Korea), the Kremlin takes into account the possibility of involving some so-called partners under the pretext of carrying out humanitarian projects in the Russian regions from the border,” the communication with Gur. “Acts of international complicity in the armed aggression” against Ukraine.
