A collision between two buses in Vouli, near Athens, caused the injury of 54 people on Friday, of which at least three are in a more serious condition, reports the Kathimerini publication.
Victims include more minors, but the life of none of the victims is in danger, writes News.ro citing Kathimerini.
The accident occurred at 11:30 local time on the boulevard that borders the Athens coast, near the Vouula beach, very frequented by Greeks and tourists during this summer period, when the temperatures reach 35 degrees Celsius, used to the season.
The causes and circumstances of the accident are the subject of an investigation, the Directorate of Road Traffic said. According to the first images broadcast by Greek media, a stationary bus was hit by a second bus.
The driver of the second bus, who was injured in his turn, said he did not feel good and could not brake.
At least 10 ambulances and three mobile medical units were sent to the scene.
“Unfortunately, most of the wounded are young people who were going to swim at that time. The first bus was parked, and the second bus crashed into it. That's why most of the wounded are in the second vehicle,” said the mayor of Vari-Vouliagmeni commune, Grigoris Konstantelos.
