Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised Wednesday to eliminate the Palestinian Islamist Movement “from the roots”, just a few days before a meeting with US President Donald Trump, who insists on an armistice in Gaza, AFP and Agerpres reports.
“There will be no Hamas, there will be no Hamastan, we will not go back to (this situation). It is over. We will free all our hostages and eliminate Hamas (…) We will eliminate them from the roots,” Netanyahu said in a video published by his office, while the Palestinian movement said that the “proposals”.
The Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar asked on Wednesday not to miss any opportunity to issue the hosts from the Gaza Strip, following the announcement of US President Donald Trump that Israel is ready to reach an armistice with the Hamas group, notes AFP.
President Donald Trump gave assurances on Tuesday that Israel, an ally of the United States, agreed to complete the terms of a two-month-old fire cessation understanding and asked Hamas to accept it, while the Israeli army extends its offensive to the Palestinian territory devastated for more than 20 months of war.
The Palestinian militant organization Hamas announced on Wednesday that it is discussing the proposals received from mediators about a cessation of fire in the Gaza strip.
The organization claims that it wants to “reach an agreement that guarantees the cessation of aggression, the withdrawal (the Israeli forces of Gaza) and the urgent help of our people from the Gaza strip.”
