Romania is in a serious economic situation, which is why they must take important measures, and PNL assumes to be part of the government that will take these measures, said the interim president of PNL, Ilie Bolojan, after the consultations from Cotroceni with President Nicușor Dan.
“We are in a complicated economic situation in which we have a large deficit that is approaching last year, we cannot take it in this form for a long time,” said Ilie Bolojan, interim president of PNL, after consultations from Cotroceni.
Also, the Liberal leader stressed that Romania is still facing accelerated debt. “At this rate we exceed next year a indebtedness of more than 60% of GDP,” he said. Also, the absorption of European funds is reduced.
This situation is also responsible for PNL, said Bolojan, which is why the party has assumed its entry into the future government to take measures to solve the serious economic situation.
“We will be willing to support a package of complex measures that will not upset the economy: reducing the state functioning, reducing inefficiency, where the staff can be reduced, the elimination of the self, of any expenses that cannot be justified, to provide as good services but with a much smaller volume.
The second component is the increase of income. We need to increase the income collection quota. It is possible here to be forced to increase taxes and taxes, ”Bolojan said.
On Wednesday, the consultations with all the parliamentary parties and the groups of non -affiliated minorities and parliamentarians take place at the Cotroceni Palace. They extend over 10 hours.
Finding the solutions to solve the problem of the budget deficit is the main priority of the discussions that the new president convened. Nicușor Dan repeatedly said after winning the elections that he wants an agreement on the government program between the parties that will form the future government before the discussion on the names of those who will be part of the Executive.
Nicușor Dan estimated that the future government will be invested within a “3-4 weeks”. He will have to appoint a new prime minister, given that Marcel Ciolacu announced, on May 5, the resignation of the prime minister and the breaking of the PSD-PNL-UDMR coalition, after Crin Antonescu missed the entry 2 of the presidential elections. The interim government is now led by Cătălin Predoiu. The law provides for a term of 45 days until the appointment of a full government.
