Thousands of false accounts that promote communist nostalgia in online have been identified by the Institute of Communism Crimes and the memory of Romanian exile (IICCMER), announces the institution on Wednesday, which states that the CNA has to take measures to destroy the network.
The accounts are active on Facebook and Tiktok, and some of them, like the Tiktok account “Republic_socialist_ro”, have hundreds of thousands of followers.
“The network, identified by digital analyzes, uses names and symbols related to Nicolae Ceausescu to spread in the public space, both on Facebook platforms and on Tiktok, thousands of images and videos that glorify the communist period, presenting the advantages and benefits of the regime from a distorted and idealized perspective,” Iiccmer reports.
IICCMER states that it will submit an official request to the National Audiovisual Council (CNA) “for starting some identification measures and destruction” used to promote nostalgic narratives against the communist regime “.
