Each driver who purchases a run car hopes that it will not have hidden defects or a given mileage back. However, vehicles with a clean history are not exactly easy to find. Moreover, when you buy certain brands, you take higher risks – especially if you are looking for an accessible model in the premium class.
The carvertic car data company conducted a study to find out which car brands in Romania usually have a clean history and have records that compromise their value.
Lexus, Renault and Peugeot models are more likely to have a clean history
In the study of the company, a car with a clean history is considered to be a model that has never been damaged, did not undergo mileage changes, was not used for taxi, ride-sharing or car-sharing services and has not been declared a total damage.
Of all the brands of vehicles checked in Romania through CARVERTICAL, LEXUS – 60.5%of the cars of this manufacturer had a clean history, followed by Renault (53.8%) and Peugeot (52.7%). Vehicles Lexus, Renault and Peugeot tend to have a clean history, as they are mainly owned by drivers who attach more importance to maintenance and longevity than changes to high performance or aggressive driving. In addition, these brands are rarely used for commercial purposes such as taxi or ride-sharing, reducing the probability of excessive wear, fraud of mileage or a bushy historian.
“Dishonest sellers try to hide the historical records of some vehicles to artificially enhance their profit margins. It is a practice especially when selling cars that have been severely damaged in the past and would be less attractive on the secondary market, if the truth were known. A car with a clean history is much easier to sell at a good price”, Explains Matas Buzelis, an expert in the field of communications within CARVERTICAL AUTOMOTIVE.
Finding a premium -class car without defects can be difficult
Finding a car with a clean history requires time and effort, and some brands are particularly risky to buy. Of all the vehicles checked by Cartical in Romania, the BMW models had the worst results – only 8% had a clean history. The following on the list were Porsche (9.3%) and Volvo (27.4%).
In most countries included in the study, premium cars have had significantly lower chances of having a clean history, which means that those who appreciate these brands should be particularly cautious when buying a second -hand model.
“Many people dream of holding a premium class car, but they do not always fully evaluate the risks involved in buying such a car. As these vehicles are more expensive, dishonest sellers are more likely to falsify their mileage or hide their flaws”Says Buzelis.
In an attempt to buy a premium class car at the lowest possible price, buyers often overlook the vehicle history or fail to check what kind of damage they could have suffered in the past. Later, as different problems begin to arise, the new owners may face unpleasant surprises. Moreover, high repair costs can increase the total property costs.
In order to make sure they will be able to use their car for years without facing unexpected problems, buyers should check the historical report of the vehicle, get the car to a test drive and take it to an authorized service. Otherwise, the enthusiasm of buying a car can disappear quickly due to persistent mechanical or electrical faults.
