After a series of failed test flights and rockets that exploded, Mexico was tired of the Vinity with the base of Spacex, Elon Musk's aerospace company. Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum threatens to sue the company due to possible environmental contaminations, which it attributes to Spacex missile launches, Gizmodo reports.

At a press conference held on Wednesday, Sheinbaum said it is considering filed official complaints against possible violations committed by Spacex.

“There is indeed contamination,” she told journalists, quoted by The Guardian. She added that the Mexican authorities are investigating the potential violations of international legislation by Musk.

Last week, a Starship rocket of Spacex exploded in a huge fire ball at the base of the company in southern Texas, known as “Starbase”. The rocket was in the preparation phase for a static motor test when it suddenly burst into flames, sending scraps in several directions.

The company said that there is no threat to nearby communities, but urged the public to avoid the area while safety measures were implemented. “Starbase”, a basis that Musk describes as a true city of Spacex, is near the border between Texas and Mexico. The nearest Mexican city is matomoros, located about 13 kilometers away.

This was only the latest in a series of incidents during starship tests, after which the rocket fragments were scattered in the environment.

Wave of explosions during Spacex rocket flights

At the end of May, a rocket disintegrated during the re -entering into the atmosphere, after a drain led to loss of control. Earlier, in March, the number 8 flight was interrupted a few minutes after take -off due to a failure of one of the Raptor engines. Starship has exploded in the air, causing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to suspend air traffic in certain areas of Florida.

In January, during the flight with number 7, Starship suffered a fuel leak and a fire caused by unexpected vibration of the propulsion system. The rocket disintegrated a few minutes after launch, spreading debris over the Caribbean islands.

Local environmental protection groups have criticized Spacex, claiming that the Starship rocket is a threat to the natural habitat in Boca Chica, Texas. Beyond the border, in Mexico, the authorities carry out a “wide analysis” of the impact on the environment that the rocket launches have on the tamalipas state, said Sheinbaum.

Spacex states that once Starship will pass all the tests, it intends to carry out 25 launches a year with it from the base in southern Texas.
