The Bucharest Pride 2025 march takes place on Saturday, June 7, and is the most anticipated and well -known event of the LGBTQ community in Romania. This year's edition promises workshops, competitions, concerts, debates and exhibitions, on the consecrated route of the event organized for 20 years in Romania.
Participants in this year's edition of the Pride Parade will go from the Government to the Parliament, on the route Calea Victoriei – Izvor Park. The organizers expect a greater presence than last year, when 27,000 people went out to support the rights of LGBTQ, according to news.ro.
The Bucharest Pride march celebrates 20 years of edition this year, “in a difficult political context, in which the far-right discourse dominates the public space.”
“We celebrate two decades of Bucharest Pride in a difficult political context, in which the far-right speech dominates the public space and some politicians in the traditional parties have the impression that they can gain the lost confidence of the Romanian voters, using the LGBTI community as a scapegoat in the election campaign,” said Teodora Roseti-Ion.
Victor Ciobotaru, the executive director of the Accept Association, said that the persons who are part of the LGBTQ community go out “to request what should have already been guaranteed: equal rights, legal protection, recognition”, but “Romania still refuses to offer a minimum legal framework for our lives”
“Our families continue to be ignored by law, and our identity is constantly questioned,” he said.
