Dacia Sandero, the model with the highest sales in the European car market, will receive a new engine, full-hybrid. A new generation of the Spring electric model will also appear.
Hybrid propulsion cars have become increasingly sought after in both Romania and the “old continent”, which is why Dacia seeks to increase their sales and make their existing range more efficient.
Sandero goes to hybrid and electric
The next generation of the Dacia Sandero model, which will come in 2028, will benefit from both electric and full-hybrid engine, which can be found on the current Jogger, Duster and Bigster models. The news has been confirmed by the Executive Vice President for product planning of the Renault group, Guido Haak.
“Definitely, Sandero will have a hybrid engine,” said the group official, for the journalists from Profit.ro. It is likely that the current generation Sandero will receive the hybrid propulsion, but this has not yet been confirmed by any representative from Renault.
Besides, Guido Haak relies on an increase in sales of models with full-hybrid system, by which the rechar is produced automatically, as the demand is increasing, compared to that of models with plug-in system (PHEV).
“The advantage of PHEV will disappear if the change of the approval system will make this type of engine less attractive, but Renault Group offers both types of engines for its customers at the moment. In the future, things could change,” Haak added.
A new Spring is in the process of developing
Dacia Spring will have a new version, completely redesigned, starting in 2026, following a news confirmed by both Guido Haak and Laurens Van Den Acker, Vice -President of the Design Department of the Renault Group. However, the future model, which could have another name, is already in a development process, meant to last only 16 months.
The electric model of the manufacturer from Mioveni has gone through a large restilization process in 2024 and underwent obvious changes on both the outside and inside, with lines and design elements taken from the new Duster.
The first spring under the Dacia emblem was the 2021, which was based on the Renault Kwid.
