ATP leader Carlos Alcaraz (22) chose 19 photos and a video with which he illustrated on social networks what he called “my real 2025”. The former coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, is nowhere to be seen.

Six-time Grand Slam champion, current world leader, Carlos Alacaraz ended 2025 by posting a selection of 19 photos and a video on social media, which he titled “Mi verdadero 2025” – My real 2025 – next to a heart.

The Spaniard mostly chose images that are not directly related to tennis. No game photos or of him lifting a trophy — he preferred the picture of his father Carlos and agent Albert Molina holding the US Open trophy.

In Carlitos' personal summary, there are many family photos, from vacations or from anniversaries, since he got a zero haircut or dyed blonde. An image of the Philippe Chatrier Center Court at Roland Garros, during the tribute prepared by the organizers for Rafael Nadal. A picture next to Rod Laver and Roger Federer at the Laver Cup, another from when he met Marc Marquez at a MotoGP Grand Prix.

There are also some snapshots with the team, but chosen from moments or from tournaments where its former coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, was not present.

The two ended their collaboration, one that spanned 7 years and was full of success, on December 17. A total shock for the world of tennis and still many aspects that remain in the privacy of the two and those close to them.

Fan comments on Alcaraz's post, however, highlighted Ferrero's complete oversight of the ATP leader's “True 2025”.

  • “Where is @juankiferri?”
  • “She has given up on him, clearly, after being satisfied with who she is, the world is full of ungrateful people, but time will put them right”
  • “You have to be grateful in this life. You have to remember who got you where you are now, be more grateful to Juan Carlos Ferrero”
  • “Carlitos…Juan Carlos was a key piece of your 2025, honestly young man, at least a photo was worth it”
  • “Giant Ferrero!!”
  • “Your story in 2025 doesn't quite unfold there. Someone important is missing in this 2025: Juan Carlos Ferrero. Much of your success belongs to him too”
  • “The saying goes: politeness does not diminish courage. Ferrero was by your side from 0 to 100. No matter what happened, he was and always will be the foundation of your career. Honor to the one who deserves it!”
  • “What a pity, no photo of Ferrero. You have to be grateful in life. You have fallen a bit in my eyes dear Carlos”
  • “You already deleted Ferrero. How ungrateful, no photo. Too bad…”
  • “A 2025 without the person with whom you reached so high hand in hand … how quickly you forgot … finally, I hope that in 2026 you feel great together with your friends.”

Juan Carlos Ferrero: “We didn't sit down and decided not to continue”

After the announcement of the separation, through two messages posted on social networks, Alcaraz did not mention Ferrero, instead the former world leader and champion at Roland Garros 2003 gave interviews to Marca and to the Spanish national television RTVE.

The first question was, somehow logically: What happened? “Everything seemed to be going well. It is true that when a year ends, certain aspects of contracts must be reviewed. And as with any new contract, looking ahead to next year, there were certain things we didn't agree on. As with all contracts, some pull in one direction and some pull in another. Those around Carlos think about what's best for him, and I, from around me, about what's best for me.

There were certain aspects on which the two sides did not agree. Maybe they could have been saved if we had sat down at the table to discuss, but in the end we didn't sit down and decided not to continue. This is what really happened. There are points I won't go into detail about but we disagreed and eventually parted ways” replied Ferrero.

Carlos Alcaraz was aware of these issues, but the negotiation was not done with the current six-time Grand Slam champion. He is to be trained in the following period by Samuel Lópezwho joined the team this year.
