The man was detained in 2022. He was the first Polish citizen, whose Human Rights Center Viasna officially recognized as a political prisoner in Belarus – the independent Belarusian portal Our Niwa informed.
Żywolewski was sentenced in 2023 to four years in prison. His judgment was to end in August this year. He was finally released from the penal colony on June 21. Earlier, on Saturday, Aleksander Łukaszenko had a conversation with the special envoy of the United States President Keith Kellogg.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paweł Wroński in an interview with Television Belsat refused to reveal the names of Polish prisoners, who were exempt from serving a sentence in Belarus. The data of one of them was revealed by Belarusian journalists.
Żywolewski, according to our Niwa, comes from a town lying at the border with Belarus. His wife was a Belarusian, which is why he spent half his life in this country. The couple built a house on the Nemunas, together they ran a shop in Grodno, they often visited Poland to visit the mother of a man – reports the portal.
The Pole was detained for alleged espionage. His image was shown in Belarusian propaganda materials. He was called in them, among others “agent” or “smuggler”. It was reported that he was to work for Polish services under the pseudonym “Posedon” from the beginning of the 21st century.
