The war between Iran and Israel should not trigger a new crisis of refugees in the Middle East, warned the United Nations on Saturday, stressing that once people have fled the war, there will be no rapid return, informs AFP and Agerpres.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugee (UNCR) has said that the intensity of attacks between the two camps has already triggered population movements in the two countries. Such movements were reported in Tehran and other parts of Iran, with inhabitants crossing borders to neighboring countries, according to UNHCR.

Israel's blows have caused people to seek refuge in other places in the country and, in some cases, abroad.

“This region has already endured too much war, losses and relocation. We cannot afford another crisis of refugees to root,” said the High Commissioner of the United Nations, Filippo Grandi.

“The moment to defuse the situation is now. Once people are forced to run away, there is no quick return – and very often, the consequences last for generations,” added the UN manager.

Israel said on Saturday that it has launched new air blows against storage and launching installations in the center of Iran.

The Tehran responded with a rescue of blows that, according to the Israeli authorities, killed at least 25 people.

In Iran there are already millions of refugees

Iran houses the largest number of refugees in the world – about 3.5 million – most of whom come from Afghanistan. If this conflict persists, the populations of refugees already present in Iran will also face a renewed and even more difficult uncertainty, added UNHCR.

The UN agency urges an urgent relaxation of the conflict and ask the countries in the region to respect the rights of persons in search.

The Israeli government states that the unprecedented wave of attacks that it has launched against Iran since June 13 is meant to prevent its enemy from developing nuclear weapons, an ambition that Tehran firmly denies.

Israel has maintained the ambiguity on its own atomic arsenal, without confirming, but also without officially denying its existence, but the International Institute of Peace Research in Stockholm states that Israel has 90 nuclear ogives.

Iran does not recognize Israel and accuses him of taking acts of sabotage against his nuclear infrastructures and of murdering more scientists.
