Nicușor Dan confirmed the participation in the summit of European people. Manfred Weber: “I am very proud to have chosen PPE”

The president of the European People's Party (PPE), Manfred Weber, said in Strasbourg that he personally called President Nicuşor Dan, who recently confirmed that he will participate next week in the PPE summit, in Brussels, Agerpres informs.

“He is an independent politician, not affected by a party, and that is why I am very proud to have chosen the PPE as a place to present the Romanian perspective,” Weber said referring to Nicuşor Dan.

“This is good news for us, as a PPE family,” Weber added in the statement made in a press conference and posted on his Instagram account on Tuesday.

Asked in a press conference on June 2, after participating in the B9 summit and the Nordic countries with what leaders will talk before his first European Council, an event traditionally preceded by leaders in European families, Nicuşor Dan said that he confirmed “as a guest, and not a member in any way or another, in the European popular group”.

The PPE summit meets before each European Council to establish the party's priorities before the Council. The next European Council will take place on June 26 and 27.

The participation of President Nicuşor Dan in the PPE Summit offers Romania a greater ability to influence major decisions at the European Union level, commented on Facebook MEP Siegfried Muresan.
