The president did not reveal the details of the plan, but as the American press notes, the administration has several tools at its disposal, including the possibility of releasing the raw material from national strategic reserves. This solution was previously suggested by Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer.
According to Reuters, the president was to consider various scenarios on Monday that could affect price stabilization. The White House fears that a further increase in oil prices may have a negative impact on the condition of American companies and consumers, which in turn could affect the results of Republicans in the upcoming congressional elections.
A day earlier, commenting on the sharp increase in oil prices, Trump emphasized that higher prices of the raw material in the short term are a “small price to pay for security” and only “fools can think otherwise.” The administration assures that the decline in oil prices is a matter of “weeks, not months.”
