BGK: European banks will co -finance defense

Banks for the development of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and EIB will cooperate to increase the security and defense potential of Europe – Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego said on Friday. The institutions will co -finance industry research and development as well as infrastructure in this area.


Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) reported that financial institutions supporting investments from France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain and the European Investment Bank (EBI) together want to act to increase Europe's potential in the field of security and defense. Six long -term investors – Caisse des Depôts, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KFW), Cassa Depositi E Prestiti (CDP), Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) and Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) and EBI – declared their desire to deepen cooperation and seek new opportunities.
The agreement was announced on Friday in Warsaw during a meeting of presidents of institutions associated in the European Association of Long -Term Investors (Elti), hosted by BGK.
As the bank pointed out, the cooperation is to concern investment and potential joint financing of projects in such areas as: research and development, industry and infrastructure. He added that this is part of a wider plan to build a stronger European Union and respond to new threats related to the geopolitical situation.
In the opinion of the President of BGK Mirosław Czekaj, supporting security and defense is not only a matter of social responsibility, but also an integral part of the Bank's recently presented business strategy until 2030. “International cooperation in this area is of key importance, and today's initiative is another proof that we can effectively act together. Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego supports the sustainable socio-economic development of Poland. Its activities affect the creation of jobs, the construction of apartments, infrastructure development and improvement of air quality.
