The adopted document is guidelines for Member States, how to increase readiness, ability to detect and respond to cyber security incidents. They indicate, for example, in which circumstances the crisis mechanism is implemented in the event of serious incidents, such as war or a terrorist attack.

Gawkowski at a press conference after the Friday meeting of the ministers of the digitization of the EU countries in Luxembourg pointed out that Poland is particularly vulnerable to cyberrataki as a converted country. “Poland is in a digital war with Russia that wants to decide about the situation in our country,” said the minister.

The Scientific and Academic Computer Network (NASK) reports that in 2024 in Poland in 2024 there were over 600,000 cyber attacks, of which over 100,000. These are confirmed incidents, i.e. on average over 300 a day.

According to the Polish minister, the development of information technology means that the war has stopped only with conventional methods, so there is also a threat to other member countries, not playing with Ukraine. “The war in cyberspace is a war that knows no borders. (…) The digital tank can stand with every capital in the European Union,” said the minister.

The new plan document determines which institutions – at technical, operational and political level – will react to large -scale cybernetic attacks. The plan also recommends closer cooperation between the bodies responsible for cybersecurity and military entities, including NATO, which is to establish special “contact points” in the event of cybercrysis.

As part of strengthening resistance to cyber threats, in June 2026, exercises will start in the EU simulating crisis situations in digital space. They are to take part in them, among others private and NATO sector. (PAP)
