The City Hall will cover the cost of the rent for the residents evacuated from the seismic risk blocks, which are being consolidated. The project was approved on Wednesday, June 4, and the aid is granted throughout the works. The amounts vary between 360 and over 1,000 euros, depending on the family composition and the type of housing.

For example, a single person moving to a studio can receive 360 euros per month. A couple who chooses a two -room apartment benefits from a support of 512 euros. In the case of an extended family, with eight members, who needs a spacious apartment – with five rooms, for example – the help can reach up to 1,030 euros a month.

The measure comes in the context in which many of the old buildings of the Capital are to be rehabilitated, and financial support is granted only if the needs of necessity offered by the City Hall are not available or do not meet the legal conditions for housing.

An interviewed Bucharest man holds the initiative.

“The idea is very good, otherwise, when you rehabilitate them, if people are there? They will move back after they are rehabilitated. God forbid, accidents can also happen, the plaster …”, he said, quoted by ProTV.

Stelian Bujduveanu, the interim general mayor, explained that the measure is essential for accelerating the works.

“In the present situation, because we have a lot of advanced projects on the PNRR and we hope to start many sites we need a legal framework so that when we start the start order those people do not stay outside a home.” he said.

At this time, in Bucharest there are ten sites for the consolidation of vulnerable buildings, five of them are financed by the National Plan for Redress and Resilitis (PNRR), and the other five are projects resumed after they have been blocked for legal reasons.

According to Răzvan Munteanu, the director of the Municipal Administration for the consolidation of the buildings with seismic risk, four or five yards will be launched in the next three months.

The capital remains one of the most exposed seismic areas in the country, with over 2,000 vulnerable buildings in front of an earthquake of the intensity of 1977. For this year, the Ministry of Development has allocated a record budget, of 7.5 billion lei, intended to strengthen buildings with seismic risk, or to be of public houses or institutions.
