Zelanski's advisor summarized talks in Istanbul. “Some strange anecdote”

Mychajło Podolak negatively summed up the conversations that took place on May 16 in Istanbul. In addition to being decided to exchange prisoners, the real goal of the arms suspension was not to be achieved. – We are not satisfied with conversations in Istanbul. According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the United States is also disgusted. This is a strange anecdote. Putin himself proposed a meeting and suggested that the topic of conversations would be a ceasefire. As it turned out – he lied – emphasized the adviser to President Zelanski in an interview with Rzeczpospolita, adding that Putin was probably afraid of talks in a foreign territory.
Podolak: Putin demonstratively wanted to humiliate Ukraine
During talks in Istanbul, the Russian delegation demanded that Ukraine withdraw its armed forces from its own territory. The Ukrainian source, cited by the Reuters agency, said that Russia's demands are unrealistic and “go beyond everything that has been discussed so far.” Mychajło Podolak said the same thing, who noticed that – according to Russia – Ukraine should give even those areas that the Russians did not occupy, to give up the arms industry and participation in military alliances at all. “Putin demonstratively wanted to humiliate Ukraine,” Podolak emphasized, adding that “negotiations in Istanbul were an imitation of activities on their part, because they play on time.”
According to Podolak, nothing changed from memorable negotiations in 2022, which also took place in Turkey. Like then, now “Russians behaved in an arrogant and rude way.” The demands were also similar, because according to the Russians the last meeting was a continuation of that.
The adviser to President Zelanski believes that war is currently the only option for Vladimir Putin, because her detention could cause chaos in Russia and the world could stop being afraid. “There is no alternative,” he summed up in an interview with Rzeczpospolita. According to Podolak, Putin is the only way to force Putin to end the war – even more severe than before. Any concessions to Russia can only be tightened by its appetite.
