Oana Gheorghiu is suspended from executive positions at Asociaţia Dăruieste Viață. “My role as Deputy Prime Minister will be to open the Government to society”
The co-founder of the Donate Life Association Oana Gheorghiu announces, shortly after taking the oath as a member of the Government, that her role as Deputy Prime Minister will be to open the Government to society, to the consultation of companies, civil society and citizens.

“After more than 15 years dedicated to the most daring initiative in Romanian health – building the first Children's Hospital for Cancer, Serious Diseases and Trauma in Romania and then a medical campus for children – the time has come for me to take a new step. I accepted the proposal to take up the position of Deputy Prime Minister of Romania. It is a difficult and emotional decision, because Giving Life was and remains a part of me. But I firmly believe that our experience – of a community that demonstrated that solidarity can build hospitals – it must also be carried into the public administration, where the decisions that influence our lives are made”Gheorghiu wrote on Facebook shortly after taking the oath as a member of the Government.
She states that during her mandate she will be suspended from executive positions within the Give Life Association.
“I trust that the Donate Life team and the community of donors and sponsors will continue the projects exactly as we started them: with transparency, professionalism and determination. I remain grateful to each of you – the over 350,000 people and thousands of companies – who have turned an impossible dream into a reality: a hospital built out of solidarity. This strength of the community is the biggest guarantee that we will continue to change Romania“, transmits Oana Gheorghiu..
She states that, in the new role, she will try to carry on this message: “c“People want change and reform, to live better in Romania, as well as to have access to quality public services”.
“I will also carry on this lesson that I learned together with you: that when people unite and contribute to change, each according to their possibilities, nothing is impossible. Moreover, my role as Deputy Prime Minister will be to open the Government towards society, towards the consultation of companies, civil society and citizens, in order to base reforms and measures on the real needs of society and to build them together, with confidence.
