The leaders of the European countries in the Ukraine support coalition have reconfirmed the support given to Kiev to conclude a peace agreement with Russia, before a high -level European delegation was traveling to Washington for discussions with US President Donald Trump.

The video conference of the leaders in the “Coalition of will” countries started around 16.30 and ended after an hour and a half.

Antonio Costa, the president of the European Council, subsequently said in an X post, that the unity between Europe and the United States is vital to achieve a sustainable peace for Ukraine. He welcomed the US availability to participate in granting security guarantees for Kyiv.

“As I pointed out during today's meeting of the will, if you do not reach an armistice, the European Union and the US must intensify the pressure on Russia,” Costa wrote, quoted by Reuters.

“Russia proposes a peace that would be a capitulation”

Another participant, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has issued a similar point of view. “I emphasized that, in order to obtain peace, the pressure must be exerted on the aggressor, not the victim,” said Sikorski.

In a press statement, the President of France Emmanuel Macron was pronounced to reject Russia's maximum claims. “There is only one state that proposes a peace that would be a capitulation: Russia,” Macron said.

The French president said that the European leaders who will go with Zelenski to the White House will ask Trump to say to what point he is willing to join Europe in offering security guarantees for Kiev.

Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, said that the coalition members have decided that the immediate priority is to stop killings in Ukraine. Also, security guarantees are “absolutely essential” for continuing negotiations of a peace agreement.

Finland's President Alexander Stubb, who will be among the European leaders who will go to Washington Monday, said that all the Coalition member countries agree with “the need to continue supporting Ukraine.”

First rank companions for Zelenski at Washington

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen will be with the Ukrainian leader Volodimir Zelenski on Monday at the meeting with Donald Trump from the White House, a meeting that comes after the American-Rus summit on Friday.

Also, NATO informed that the secretary-general of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte, will also go to Washington.

The German government said that Chancellor Friedrich Merz will be present in the Oval Office, and then similar ads have come on the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron and the Finnish, Alexander Stubb, plus that of Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and the British, Keir Starmer.

Rutte and Stubb are known for the good relationship with the US President, and Meloni, who is nicknamed by some “Trump's tanner”, visited his residence in Mar-A-Lago and was the only European leader invited to the inauguration of January. Trump said the Italian prime minister is “a wonderful person.”
