The Czech authorities launched a large -scale emergency response on Friday after a suspicious case of Ebola in the city of Tabor, in the south of the country, informs DPA, taken by Agerpres.

An American citizen who recently returned from a trip to Congo was transferred in accordance with the strict biological risk protocols to a high security unit of Bulovka Hospital in Prague, according to CNN Prima News.

The reports of the local press did not specify whether the country visited by the man was the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC) or the neighboring Congo-Brazzille.

The man, who would be around 40, first asked for medical care at a hospital in Tabor, about 80 kilometers south of Prague.

Extensive disinfection procedures were performed at this unit after the man's visit on Friday night.

A spokesman for Bulovka Hospital said that test results are only expected on Saturday morning, because the tests were sent to a German laboratory for analysis.

Ebola is a contagious infectious disease that endangers life. The virus is transmitted through physical contact and contact with body fluids.

The Robert Koch Institute in Germany draws attention to the fact that the mortality rate caused by the Ebola is up to 90% if the infected people are not treated immediately.

An Ebola outbreak in Western Africa in 2013 resulted in over 10,000 deaths within three years.
