The Russian troops infiltrated the city of Kupiansk, in the Kharkov region, using a gas pipeline that had a village under the control of Moscow, informs the Deep State monitoring site, quoted by The Kyiv Independent.

The Russians entered the gas pipeline from Liman Perși, a village 8 kilometers from Kupiansk on the front line. Thus, they managed to pass under the river Oskil, which separates the two settlements.

Thus, they arrived in the neighboring village of Radkivka, from the outskirts of Kupiansk, after which they expanded south to a forest and inside the city. The Russians have already managed to install positions for drone pilots in the front area.

In order to transport the pipeline equipment, the Russian soldiers used banks on wheels and electric scooters. Deep State estimates that the duration of the pipe lasted up to four days so that special places for rest and supply have been arranged.

Ukrainians announce that they stopped arrival of other Russians in the city

The General Staff of the Ukrainian army claims that it has succeeded in taking control of the outlet. “The situation in the city of Kupiansk and the neighboring areas are under the control of the Ukrainian armed forces,” the Ukrainian General Staff said on Facebook.

The same source indicates that there are several pipes in the Kupiansk area. Three out of four are already damaged and flooded, and the exit of the fourth is under Ukrainian control.

Kiev argues that during the counter-sabotage operation triggered by his troops were neutralized 395 Russian soldiers, of which 288 were killed.

Kupiansk is 104 kilometers east of Kharkov, the capital of the region. The city was occupied by the Russians at the beginning of the invasion, but the Ukrainians managed to bring it under its control in September 2022. Since then, heavy struggles have been worn in its vicinity.

The Russians attack the city with guided bombs, artillery, rocket launch systems and drones. The 1,800 civilians who still live there are almost completely deprived of electricity, gas and running water.

It is for the third time that the Russians use gas pipes to infiltrate behind the Ukrainian lines. This tactic was first adopted during the Battle of AVDIIVKA.

Subsequently, in March 2025, about 100 soldiers went through a gas pipeline to reach the Ukrainian positions in Sudja, in the Russian Kursk region, a locality that was then under the control of Kiev.
