Three Russian Oil Tankers Headed to the U.S. Amid Controversial Agreement

Moscow has confirmed that three tankers transporting Russian diesel are currently making their way to the United States, a move that follows a controversial agreement that has drawn strong reactions from Ukraine and European nations.

On Tuesday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated, “Currently, three tankers” carrying Russian fuel are en route to the U.S. He also indicated that a fourth ship is scheduled to depart on Wednesday.

This development comes after U.S. President Donald Trump finalized an agreement with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, aimed at easing sanctions on Moscow in exchange for allowing Russian diesel into the global market.

The initiative, intended to lower fuel prices for American consumers ahead of the midterm elections on November 3, has faced severe criticism from Ukraine and its allies.

The first tanker carrying Russian diesel destined for the United States set sail from Russian waters last week. Data from Kpler, a maritime traffic monitoring company, indicated that the vessel loaded nearly 300,000 barrels of diesel at the Primorsk terminal and is headed for New York.

Relations between Kiev and Washington have once again soured following the conclusion of the Russian-American diesel deal, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky describing the decision as a “weak move.”
