21 Athletes Compete in Finals of “Olympic History of the 21st Century” Contest

The “Olympic History of the 21st Century” contest has reached its finals, showcasing the achievements of Polish Olympic medalists. In the first phase, fans submitted nearly 1,000 stories about 111 Polish athletes who have made their mark since the turn of the century. The finalists come from various sports and generations, representing a diverse range of accomplishments that have etched their names into the annals of Polish sports history.

This competition serves as a platform to highlight not just the gold medals and trophies but also the inspiring journeys these athletes undertook to achieve greatness. Their stories offer valuable lessons on perseverance, responsibility, and respect—qualities that extend beyond the realm of athletics into everyday life.

The 21 finalists include renowned figures such as Maria Andrejczyk, Leszek Blanik, Zbigniew Bródka, Natalia Bukowiecka, and many others across different sports. A jury composed of sports representatives and media professionals, including six-time world individual speedway champion Bartosz Zmarzlik and Olympic medalists like Aleksandra Mirosław, will evaluate the stories submitted.

“Olympic History of the 21st Century” aligns with PROFBUD’s 13-year tradition of supporting Polish sports, from nurturing young talent to celebrating international achievements. In 2024, PROFBUD is set to sponsor the Polish Olympic Team, rewarding gold medalist Aleksandra Mirosław with an apartment, along with other medalists recognized for their contributions and performances.

Paweł Malinowski, the founder and president of PROFBUD, emphasized the contest’s goal to showcase the significance of sporting achievements beyond the Olympics. He expressed hope that the stories of these athletes would resonate and inspire future generations. Voting is open until October 30, 2026, via the official contest website and in “Przegląd Sportowy” publications, where interviews with finalists delve into their athletic journeys and the pivotal moments that shaped their careers.

Each Olympic medal represents years of training, sacrifices, and determination, encapsulating emotions that linger in the hearts of fans. The “Olympic History of the 21st Century” not only celebrates these athletes but also honors their enduring legacies within Polish Olympic history. One deserving athlete will receive a unique prize: an apartment in the City of Polish Olympic Champions, acknowledging their remarkable journey and achievements.
