Trump Confirms Ongoing U.S. Intelligence Support for Ukraine

During a press conference on Tuesday, President Donald Trump affirmed that the United States is still sharing intelligence with Ukraine. He stated, “We are helping them and sharing intelligence,” underscoring the U.S. commitment to Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.

Trump expressed a desire for the war to conclude, indicating that American efforts are aimed at facilitating discussions with both Ukraine and Russia. He noted that both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin seek a resolution, but remarked on the significant animosity between the two leaders, suggesting that it complicates the path to peace.

Additionally, Trump addressed concerns regarding a deal on Russian diesel, which has drawn criticism from within the Republican Party. A bipartisan group of senators has urged him to reconsider the administration’s stance on allowing diesel imports from Russia, accusing the government of violating federal law and providing crucial financial support to Moscow in its conflict with Ukraine.

When question about the potential for Russia to use profits from this deal to fund military actions, Trump avoided a direct answer, stating, “This is a diesel deal, not for us. It is being circulated globally, not to us.”

Intelligence Sharing: A Critical Issue for Ukraine

On the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that his country had not received prior warning from Western partners about a Russian ballistic missile attack on Kiev.

Zelensky, who is under pressure from the U.S. to refrain from targeting Russian refineries, emphasized that Ukrainian forces have not targeted these economic sites recently. However, he noted the absence of the usual warnings from allies regarding ballistic missile launches prior to what he described as a particularly vile attack on Kiev, where five missiles struck civilian infrastructure.

In a message posted on X, Zelensky wrote, “Information about Russian ballistic missile launches is crucial for saving lives,” highlighting this as one of the most critical issues facing Ukraine.
