Warren Buffett Steps Down as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway

Warren Buffett has announced his resignation as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, a company he acquired in 1965 when it was a mid-sized textile firm. Under his leadership, he transformed it into one of the world’s largest conglomerates. Today, Berkshire Hathaway generates most of its revenue from its extensive insurance operations, including Geico and numerous other companies spanning industries from aerospace to chocolate retail. The textile business was closed in 1985.
Buffett will remain with the company in a new role. His son, Howard Buffett, who has been a board member since 1993 and runs his own charitable foundation, will take on more responsibilities. The company expressed gratitude for Howard’s dedication, discipline, and deep understanding of Berkshire Hathaway, which he will bring to his new role.
In a farewell letter to shareholders, Warren Buffett reflected on his tenure, stating, “I have served Berkshire County since 1965. After more than sixty years, I still have the best job in the world. Few people my age can say that, and I have never felt better thinking about what lies ahead.”
