I will wait for Putin on Thursday in Turkey

“We are waiting for a ceasefire from tomorrow – complete and long to give the necessary basis for diplomacy. It makes no sense to delay the murder. And I will wait for Putin on Thursday in Turkey. Personally,” the President of Ukraine wrote.

Zelensky expressed hope “that the Russians this time will not look for the reasons why they cannot.”

Context

On May 10, the leaders of France, Germany, Poland, and Great Britain, whose countries are part of the Coalition of those who wish, met in Kyiv. They agreed that from Monday, May 12, there should be a complete and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine at least 30 days, “not limited by any conditions,” and the application of more stringent sanctions against the Russian Federation in case of its refusal.

On the night of May 11, Putin publicly called the invasion of Ukraine a war and offered direct negotiations in Istanbul on May 15.

Zelensky said that Ukraine is waiting for confirmation of the ceasefire from Russia from May 12 and is ready to meet for peace negotiations.

The head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrei Ermak noted that at first there should be a ceasefire and only then – everything else.

Special representative of US President Donald Trump in Ukraine, Keith Kellog, after a statement by Putin, said that For negotiations about the world in Ukraine, you must first achieve a ceasefire, and not vice versa.
