Ukraine has begun utilizing advanced drones supplied by two British companies to conduct strikes on military and industrial targets within Russia, according to sources.
Reports estimate that these strikes have inflicted approximately £35 billion ($47.3 billion) in economic damage to Russia. Sources from LBC highlight that the drones have proven to be more effective for strikes compared to the previously supplied British Storm Shadow missiles, which can hit targets over 250 kilometers away.
The new drones are designed to fly at low altitudes and high speeds, utilizing a combination of inertial navigation, GPS, and terrain-following technology, as detailed by the manufacturer, MBDA.
According to The Independent, the drones in question include the Nyan rocket drones developed by Callen-Lenz, a subsidiary of BAE Systems, which boast a range exceeding 960 kilometers.
Context
- The UK has not disclosed the exact number of Storm Shadow missiles it has provided to Ukraine since the start of the conflict and does not regularly announce such shipments. Ukrainian forces first used British missiles for strikes against military targets in Russia in November 2024.
