Romelu Lukaku Joins Fenerbahce with Lucrative Contract

Romelu Lukaku has officially transferred to Fenerbahce from Napoli after both clubs reached an agreement. The Belgian international has completed his medical examination at his new club in Istanbul.
The Turkish club convinced Napoli’s president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, with an offer of €6 million plus up to €3 million in bonuses, despite De Laurentiis’s initial demand of €10 million for Lukaku.
Romelu Lukaku’s Annual Earnings
Lukaku is set to earn €10 million per season as part of his contract with Fenerbahce. Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the two clubs are currently exchanging official transfer documents to finalize the deal. Once major hurdles are cleared, only administrative steps will remain before the transaction is officially announced.
Transfer Financials and Chelsea’s Share
From the final transfer fee, Chelsea will receive 40% since they sold Lukaku to Napoli in 2024. Napoli aimed to offload Lukaku from their payroll after a turbulent two seasons.
During the 2024-2025 season, Lukaku played a vital role in helping Napoli secure the title, but the following season proved frustrating as he struggled with injuries and had conflicts with management and coach Antonio Conte regarding his decision to pursue treatment in his home country.
Lukaku’s Scoring Record
Romelu Lukaku is Belgium’s all-time leading scorer, netting 93 goals in 132 appearances. His accolades include winning the Serie A title with Inter Milan in 2021 and the Belgian Pro League with Anderlecht in 2010. He also won the FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea in 2021. At the recent World Cup held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, he scored three goals and provided one assist in six matches.
