Poland Nears $1 Trillion Economy, Ranks 6th in EU

Poland’s nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) hit €922.9 billion in 2025, ranking it as the sixth largest economy in the European Union, ahead of countries like Belgium and Sweden, recent data from Eurostat indicates, as reported by TVP World.
This GDP figure accounts for 4.9% of the total economic output of the 27 EU member states, which totaled €18.8 trillion in 2025.
Eurostat’s information confirms Poland as the largest economy in Central and Eastern Europe.
In comparison, Romania’s GDP stood at €380.1 billion, more than half that of Poland, while the Czech Republic reported a GDP of €347.3 billion, and Hungary’s was €218.8 billion.
Germany Maintains Leading Position in EU Economy
Germany retained its status as the largest economy in the EU in 2025, with a GDP of €4.47 trillion, making up 23.8% of the total EU economic output.
France ranked second at €2.99 trillion, followed by Italy at €2.26 trillion, Spain at €1.69 trillion, and the Netherlands at €1.17 trillion.
Additionally, a report from the International Monetary Fund this year suggests that Poland is projected to surpass Switzerland and become the 20th largest economy in the world by 2028.
