Rapid București is actively pursuing a stronger squad by negotiating with Genoa for the transfer of midfielder Chec Bebel Doumbia. Following the loan acquisition of defender Alin Kumer Celik, the Romanian club is looking to add the 18-year-old from Burkina Faso to their roster.
According to reports from GSP.ro, Doumbia is on Rapid’s radar to enhance their midfield. However, negotiations currently stand at a pause as officials from Genoa await the finalization of their squad for the upcoming season.
Doumbia has made a notable impression during recent first-team training sessions and in a test match where coach Daniele De Rossi divided the players into two teams.
Chec Bebel Doumbia: A Valuable Addition for Rapid
The African midfielder’s profile bears similarities to that of Vladan Bubanja, who notably contributed to Rapid’s first win of the season against Sepsi, with a score of 1-0.
Standing at 1.93 meters tall, Doumbia has played exclusively in Italy thus far. He was acquired by Genoa earlier this year from Team Altamura for a fee of €500,000. To avoid disrupting his development, Genoa allowed him to continue playing with the Serie C team until the end of the season.
During this transfer window, Rapid has also secured players such as Mohammed Kamara (CFR Cluj), Vladan Bubanja (Orenburg), Jason Kodor (Lecce), Daniel Graovac (FCSB), and Ștefan Senciuc (CFR Cluj).
The market value of Chec Bebel Doumbia is estimated at €400,000, according to the specialist portal Transfermarkt.com.
