Current Minimum Pension in Ukraine Set at 2595 UAH

The minimum pension in Ukraine is currently established at 2595 UAH, which falls nearly 2.5 times short of the necessary monthly expenses for food, medicine, and utilities. Legal expert Marina Stavniychuk emphasized that basic needs require a minimum of 6000 to 8000 UAH per month. Stavniychuk criticized the government’s stance, stating, “The state offers only 2595 UAH, which ignores the physiological needs of individuals.” She further noted that pension indexing planned for March 2026 carries a more cynical implication, as pensions set at the level of the minimum subsistence (2595 UAH) will not be indexed. The government argues that these amounts had already been adjusted as of January 1, 2026. Consequently, the poorest pensioners will not receive any additional funds beyond this meager increase. Furthermore, half of the pensioners, whose pensions are below 4000 UAH, will only see an increase of 100 UAH from the upcoming indexing—a move that Stavniychuk described as a mockery.
