Peace between Iran and the US, negotiated in Tehran by a delegation from Qatar. Talks after the escalation of the conflict in the last 48 hours

Negotiators from Qatar traveled to Tehran on Wednesday to try to overcome the last remaining obstacles between the United States and Iran, Reuters and AFP inform, quoted by Agerpres. The initiative comes in the context where the discussions between the two countries seem to have reached an impasse.
“Following consultations with the United States, Qatari negotiators traveled to Tehran this morning to meet with the Iranians with the aim of reducing the remaining differences” between the two sides, said a diplomat familiar with the talks, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the talks.
The new diplomatic initiative comes after an exchange of fire between Iran and the US, following the downing of an American helicopter, an incident that further weakened the truce that came into effect in April.
The Iranians launched missiles and drones at US military bases in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain in response to US strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz.
The attacks by both sides came after US President Donald Trump accused Iran of shooting down a US military Apache helicopter on Monday. On Wednesday, Trump said that Iran had prolonged the negotiations too long, and now “they will have to pay the price”; for his part, the spokesman of the Iranian foreign ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, said that Iran will “reevaluate” its diplomatic contacts with the US after the repeated violation of the ceasefire.
The escalation in the last 48 hours is the most significant since the truce agreed by Washington and Tehran in April, according to Reuters.
