How much does a holiday in Switzerland cost? Prices of basic products and services for tourists

Switzerland has been considered one of the most expensive tourist destinations in Europe for years. Knowing the real costs allows you to plan your budget better and avoid unpleasant surprises on site.
It is no secret that if you want to visit Switzerland, you have to take into account higher expenses. What does this mean in practice? Prices in this country are even three times higher than in Poland. This applies especially to accommodation, food and transport.

According to Tourlane.com, a week's trip to Switzerland ranges on average from PLN 3,500 to PLN 7,000 per person. It all depends on the standard that satisfies us. The lion's share of expenses are basic fees, i.e. accommodation. Hotel prices in Switzerland average from $250. (PLN 900) to USD 430 (PLN 1,500) per night, but vary significantly depending on the season, location and type of facility.

As calculated by Hotelscombined.com, in low-budget hotels and hostels the price ranges from USD 80 to USD 150, mid-range (three stars) facilities ask for USD 200-280. (PLN 700-1000), while the higher class (four stars) costs about USD 400. (over PLN 1,400) per night.

In addition to the costs of the stay itself, you also need to take into account very mundane expenses – food. A cheap meal in a restaurant costs around 25-50 Swiss francs (approximately PLN 115-230), and a quick fast food costs 15-20 francs.
Prices in stores in Switzerland are also much higher than those we know in Poland. Bread costs 2-4 francs, beer in the shop 1.5-2 francs, and in a bar up to 9 francs.

It is worth shopping at discount stores and preparing your own meals. It is best to book accommodation in advance or look for it outside the city center. Public transport is expensive, but a Swiss Travel Pass or promotional tickets can significantly reduce costs. Renting a car is profitable mainly in groups and outside large cities.
Switzerland offers many free attractions: mountain trails, city walks and picnics overlooking the Alps. Tap water is clean and safe to drink, so there is no need to buy bottled water.
Switzerland is expensive, but with proper planning you can enjoy its charms without spending too much.
