Thomas Tuchel Praises England’s Thrilling 4-2 Victory Over Croatia

Thomas Tuchel, the 52-year-old manager of England, expressed his pride in the team following their impressive 4-2 victory over Croatia in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup.
England took the lead twice during the first half, with captain Harry Kane scoring a brace. However, Croatia equalized each time with goals from Martin Baturina and Petar Musa. After halftime, Tuchel’s players returned with renewed energy, securing the win with second-half goals from Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford.

“It was a tough match against a worthy opponent, especially in the first half. I am very pleased with our team’s response. We showed a lot of energy, which is exactly what we wanted. I’m especially happy for the fans,” Tuchel stated.
He added, “The reaction in the second half was fantastic. The good thing is that we managed to calm our nerves and showcased our best in that period. I hope we can continue in the same spirit; we deserved this victory through that spirit. We had nothing to lose in the second half and needed to push hard for the win. A great reaction! Our team simply reacted fantastically against a difficult opponent,” according to reports.
This victory places England at the top of Group L in the World Cup standings. In another match, Ghana defeated Panama with a last-minute goal, finishing 1-0.
Next, England will face Ghana at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on June 23 at 11:00 PM. Following that, Tuchel’s squad will compete against Panama on June 28 at midnight at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which will also host the final of this historic World Cup.
