Krasnoyarsk residents are invited to a holiday of Russian culture

On non-working Friday, June 12, a holiday of Russian culture will be held for the first time in Krasnoyarsk on the Central Embankment. As the mayor's office said, the event is timed to coincide with City Day and the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

From 15:00 citizens will be able take part in a festival of popular folk games. The program includes: hopscotch, forged chains, rubber bands, towns, bouncers, rough seas, hot potatoes, ponytails, etc.

More will pass some competitions with a Russian flavor: “Heroic strength” (16-kg kettlebell press), and dFor those with gorgeous hair – “Maiden Beauty” and “Rich Beard”. Guests will also see a fashion show of Krasnoyarsk women in sundresses and kokoshniks and the winner will be determined in the “Dressy Girl” category.

In addition, throughout the day, various thematic master classes and photo zones will be held on the embankment. Krasnoyarsk artists will perform the program “Russian Culture for All Times”. At 20:00 folk groups “Obereg” and “Ladov Den” will take the stage, combining traditional melodies with modern sounds. The evening will end with the folk song ensemble “Krasny Yar”.

“The holiday of Russian culture opens a series of summer interethnic events in Krasnoyarsk for the first time. Next weekend the baton will be picked up by the Tatar Sabantuy and the Kyrgyz Zhailoo. They will be followed by the Tajik Sayri lola and the Uzbek Kovun sayli. The events are taking place within the framework of the municipal program “Promoting the development of civil society in Krasnoyarsk”. One of its tasks is to strengthen the interethnic harmony of residents through acquaintance with the diversity of cultures and traditions,” the mayor’s office said.
