In the Balakhtinsko-Novoselovsky district, police detained an 18-year-old resident of Tomsk, who is suspected of fraud. This was reported to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

In April, a local resident born in 1972 contacted the police. The woman said that she received a call from an unknown person who introduced herself as an employee of the “military fund.” The interlocutor stated that after the death of their son, the family was allegedly entitled to a plot of land. To complete the paperwork, the swindler lured the woman’s passport details and SNILS number.

After this, the victim received calls from false law enforcement officials and banks for three days. They threatened with criminal liability for connections with the “military fund”, advised to withdraw money from the accounts and transfer it to a “criminologist”. On the agreed day in the village of Svetlolobovo, the woman met with an unknown person and gave him 6.8 million rubles.

Later, criminal investigation officers identified the suspect. He turned out to be an 18-year-old native of Buryatia living in Tomsk. According to the police, the young man found an offer to “make money” on the Internet. His first task was to take money from a resident of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, transfer it to the scammers’ account and keep a percentage for himself.

After completing the task, he returned to Tomsk, where he was detained by police. A criminal case has been opened for fraud. The maximum penalty under this article is up to 10 years in prison. The suspect was taken into custody.

Now the police are establishing other possible episodes of his criminal activities and the organizers of the scheme.
