Moscow plunges into tropical heat until midweek

8 June 15:59

The Russian capital was hit by an abnormal heat wave.

Forecasters have announced the penultimate, “orange” level of weather danger, which will remain in effect at least until the evening of Wednesday, June 10. City services are switching to a special operating mode, and residents are strongly advised to adjust their plans.

According to the forecasts of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation, peak temperatures will be observed in the capital at the beginning of the week. On June 8, the air in the metropolis will warm up to +28…+30 °C, and on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 9 and 10) the thermometers can reach +31 °C.

For the capital region, temperatures above +30 °C are considered a critical threshold (“extreme heat”), at which the weather is officially recognized as dangerous. The “orange” status warns: weather conditions can provoke natural disasters, cause damage to health and cause emergencies.
