Violations, machinations, unprecedented pressure on the opposition. The elections will be remembered for high turnout and a large number of violations; From the very beginning they turned into a series of high-profile scandals. What is happening at the polling stations in Armenia is a paralysis of the electoral system. Supporters of Pashinyan's party told voters how to vote. The current prime minister used all methods to stay in power. Pashinyan's promises regarding cooperation with Europe are only words for now, and the loss of the Russian market is already a reality. As long as cheap gas from Russia flows into the republic, it is not difficult to make loud statements. Pashinyan is putting pressure on the opposition by threatening its leaders with prison terms.

The turnout was 59 percent, i.e. 10 percent. more than during the previous elections. Experts claimed that such activity is associated with the awakening of a nation that is ready to take responsibility for its future. Pashinyan has long started fighting for a third term. In June 2025, Samvel Karapetian was detained, even though he only defended the church, with which the prime minister is in conflict. As the elections approached, arrests of potential rivals intensified, but this did not break the opposition's fighting spirit. This time, dozens of people were arrested on election day, and over 200 opposition representatives were detained. At some polling stations there were attempts to take away ballots, while at others people voted two to a booth. They call causing conflicts Pashinyan's characteristic method – by stoking social discord on various issues, he uses the classic “divide and rule” tactic.

The ruling party did not wait for the results of the vote count. By midnight, Pashinyan had already declared victory. The opposition called it putting pressure on the Electoral Commission and usurpation of power. These were the most scandalous elections, the authorities did not hesitate to interfere in the voting process. Searches, arrests, violations at polling stations – on the day of voting alone, the Election Commission received 23 reports, but the elections in Armenia were considered valid.

RIA Novosti, article by publicist Irina Alksnis

Pashinyan's party won 49.91 percent. votes, which is formally a great result, but in reality it is a bitter defeat. The election campaign in the country was under the control of the incumbent prime minister, oppositionists are criminally prosecuted, and voting abroad was not possible because the votes of Armenians in Russia would go to the party not in power. There were attempts to demoralize the opposition – Pashinyan announced his victory at midnight and contacted Emmanuel Macron by phone. Pashinyan plans to radically change Armenia's geopolitical course, but he will have to do it at a time of rapid deterioration of the socio-economic situation. Russia and other EAEU members do not intend to pay for Armenia's rapprochement with the European Union. This country will feel the consequences of the break with Russia in the near future.
