The accident happened on October 23, 2025 in the evening. It was established that the 80-year-old man was driving a technically sound Daewoo Nexia GL car along Arbuzov Street at a speed of about 40 km/h, which did not provide him with the ability to constantly monitor the situation. At the same time, visibility was limited due to the wet road surface, darkness and heavy snow. Despite the “Pedestrian crossing” signs and zebra markings, in the area of house No. 11, microdistrict No. 8, the motorist did not slow down and did not stop when two people stepped onto the road and hit them. As a result, one of the pedestrians received serious injuries, from which he later died in the Krasnoyarsk regional hospital.

The driver admitted guilt. When choosing the punishment, the court took into account mitigating circumstances: the defendant’s advanced age and state of health, an apology to the injured party and an attempt to compensate for the harm caused – the man sent money to the relatives of the deceased pedestrian, but they did not accept it. No aggravating circumstances were established.

According to Part 3 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, an elderly man was sentenced to 2 years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 2.5 years, and was also deprived of the right to drive vehicles for 2.5 years. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
