Russian parents are almost twice as likely to take out insurance for boys than for girls. RIA Novosti reports this.
Boys accounted for 64% of children's insurance policies in the first five months of 2026, the data shows. 36% of contracts were issued for girls. Most often, parents insure their children against accidents, sports injuries and tick bites. Interest in travel insurance for children has also increased. Since the beginning of the year, travel policies in Russia and abroad have been issued for 17 thousand minors.
In total, from January to May, Russians entered into 469 thousand agreements under juvenile protection programs. Most policies were issued for children aged 9 to 14 years. This age group accounted for 61% of all contracts.
