The formation of trains of increased weight of 7100 tons allowed the Krasnoyarsk Railway in January – April 2026 to additionally export 36.8 thousand tons of export coal from Khakassia in the direction of ports and border crossings of the Far East.
In total, 144 heavy trains were formed at KrasRussian Railways stations in the Republic of Khakassia, which is one of the large “coal” regions of Siberia, over the 4 months of this year. A third of them delivered products from regional coal mining enterprises in the eastern export direction.
On the Mezhdurechensk – Abakan – Taishet section, through which the products of coal mining enterprises in Khakassia are transported, KrasRussian Railways has been actively developing heavy-haul traffic technologies since 2021. Currently, “coal” trains weighing 7,100 tons are being formed at all 4 solid fuel loading stations in the region – Montenegrin Mines, Kamyshta, Khonykh, Tasheba.
Driving heavy freight trains is a measure to increase the efficiency of transportation at the Eastern range of the Trans-Siberian Railway and BAM. The technology makes it possible to increase the volume of cargo removal using the existing infrastructure without increasing the number of trains. For the Krasnoyarsk Railway, this is an opportunity to quickly respond to the increased economic demand for exports in the eastern direction.
