According to money.pl, Marcin P., the founder of the online currency exchange office Cinkciarz.pl, was detained in the United States on May 19. He is awaiting extradition to Poland. As Wirtualna Polska found out, he had been staying in the Chicago area for months.
The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Poznań accuses him of fraud to the detriment of over PLN 7,000. customers, money laundering and violation of the Payment Services Act. Total losses are estimated at PLN 185 millionand the suspect faces up to 25 years in prison.
He was charged in absentia in March 2025. In the same case, Robert G., former president of Conotoxia – a company related to Conotoxia – was temporarily arrested.
From a billion-dollar valuation to bankruptcy
For years, Marcin P. was considered one of the first Polish billionaires of new technologies. Founded in 2007, Cinkciarz.pl sponsored, among others: the Polish national football team and the NBA Chicago Bulls team, reminds money.pl/
The crisis accelerated in the fall of 2024 when The Polish Financial Supervision Authority revoked Conotoxia's license on payment activities, indicating the lack of proper protection of customer funds. In practice, the clients' money was supposed to be mixed with the company's funds.
On March 10, 2025, a petition for bankruptcy of Cinkciarz.pl was filed, and on October 27, 2025, the court announced it. Earlier, Interpol issued a red notice for Marcin P..
350 thousand PLN for media services
The documents obtained by Wirtualna Polska show that two companies from the Cinkciarza group paid a total of 350 thousand zloty PR company Fiverand Krzymowski SKA.

Fiverand declares that the cooperation lasted about two and a half months and concerned only media support after the decision of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. The scope of services included, among others: preparing responses for the media and press materials.
Przemysław Wipler's recurring thread
The Cinkciarz case is intertwined with the previously described Zondacrypto scandal. In both cases, the name appears Przemysław WiplerMP of the Confederation.
Until December 2023, Wipler was a general partner in Fiverand. As “Gazeta Wyborcza” revealed earlier, when he ended his activity in the company, he collected money PLN 1 million from profit for 2023. The MP himself emphasizes that he has never provided services to Cinkciarz – neither personally nor through entities in which he participated.
Additional questions are raised by the fact that during the period of cooperation with Cinkciarz, Fiverand's registered office was listed in the National Court Register at the address where Wipler's parliamentary office and the Dobry Government foundation were located. The company explains this with a delayed data update.

“Lex Cinkciarz” and political tensions
As money.pl reminds, after the withdrawal of Conotoxia's license, the government proposed to subject online currency exchange offices to regulations under the Act on the Crypto-Asset Market. There was a wave of interpellations in the Sejm criticizing the project – the industry media called them “lex cinkciarz”.
The authors of the interpellation warned against limiting competition and increasing prices of services. Przemysław Wipler assures that he has not been involved in lobbying since taking up his mandate.
