According to the American president, the Russian president told him in a phone call earlier on Monday that he was attacked at home by a Ukrainian attacker.
“You know who told me about this? President Putin, this morning (local time). He said he was attacked, It's not good”Donald Trump told the press at the reception of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his residence, at Mar-a-Lago, in Florida, News writes.
“It's a delicate time. It's not the right time. It's one thing to attack because they're being attacked. It's another to attack his house”said the resident of the White House.
Before meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump stated that “he doesn't know” if Russian statements according to which Ukraine tried to attack Vladimir Putin's residence are true.
The American president also announced that he had a “good discussion” with the Russian president.
He did not specify anything about the nature and content of this telephone conversation.
Previously, a spokeswoman for the White House, Karoline Leavitt, announced on X that the two heads of state wanted a “positive telephone discussion about Ukraine”.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected Russia's accusations on Monday, calling them “a new series of lies”.
He told reporters via WhatsApp that Russia is trying, through such statements, to undermine the progress made in peace negotiations between Ukraine and the US and that Moscow is preparing the ground for an attack on Ukrainian government buildings in Kiev.
