Maurizio Sarri (67 years old) is very close to taking over the technical bench of Atalanta. The negotiations between the experienced coach and the Bergamo club have entered the final phase.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Sarri, currently Lazio's coach, will sign a 3-year contract with Atalanta, with an annual salary of 3.5 million euros.

Sarri was also an option for the coaching job at Napoli after it became clear that the Neapolitans would part ways with Antonio Conte.

At the moment, the most likely future manager of Napoli will be Vincenzo Italiano. Talks are already underway and the Bologna technician has been offered a contract until the summer of 2028, with an option to extend for another year.

Maurizio Sarri started his coaching career in 1990 in the lower leagues of Italy. Later, the Italian technician also coached Faellese, Cavriglia, Antella, Valdema, Tegoleto, Sansovino, Sangiovannese, Pescara, Arezzo, Avellino, Verona, Perugia, Grosseto, Alessandria, Sorrento, Empoli, Napoli, Chelsea, Juventus and Lazio in two terms.

Maurizio Sarri has won only two trophies in his coaching career, the first being in the Europa League, in 2019, with Chelsea, after 4-1 in the final against rivals Arsenal. Sarri's second trophy came the following season, on the Juventus bench, with whom he won the Serie A title.

Atalanta will part with Raffaele Palladino at the end of this season, who only managed a 7th place finish, qualifying the team in the Conference League preliminaries, after the Bergamo team had obtained participation in the Champions League in the previous season.

On the other hand, Maurizio Sarri took Lazio to 9th place before the last leg of Serie A and lost the Coppa Italia final to Inter 0-2.
