The victim is the woman's daughter and managed to escape just a few days ago, on May 8, 2025, according to prosecutor Grace C. Macaulay. The girl, now 18 years old, would have been withdrawn from school in 2018, before starting the seventh grade, and has since been completely isolated in the home of the two, notes CNN.

Investigators claim that the girl was subjected to unimaginable tortures. It was held for about a year in a dog cage, and was later closed with a chain in a lock with a lock. He was allowed to leave only when the family received visits, to give the appearance that everything was normal. At other times, she was forced to live in a room with a simple lighean for physiological needs, supervised with an alarm system that alerted the couple if she was trying to go out.

Branndon Mosley, a train conductor, is also accused of repeated sexual assault on the victim, and both defendants face multiple charges: kidnapping, aggravated aggression, endangering the child, false and illegal ownership of weapons.

Surprisingly, the girl managed to get out, and a neighbor initially contacted social services, then the police. At the first interaction with the authorities, the adolescent did not report the abuses, saying that he had a conflict with the father and that he needs shelter. Subsequently, the authorities descended to the house and found unhealthy conditions, where more animals lived, including dogs and curls.

The prosecutors also stated that the victim's younger sister, 13 -year -olds, who had been withdrawn from school and educated at home. In the state of New Jersey, parents just have to notify the intention to move on to this type of education, without other legal requirements related to presence or educational content, which – the authorities say – can allow the abuse to be hidden.

“What endured this young woman is absolutely awful,” said the case prosecutor, adding that the victim is “Extremely lucky that he managed to escape”. Both girls are now safe.

The two persons accused of these horrors, Brenda Spencer and Branndon Mosley, are to appear before the court on Friday, May 16, for a hearing on preventive measures.
