The road that promises to ease access to Greenfield Băneasa and the northern area, the connection between DN1 and the Ring Road

In Bucharest, traffic is no longer just an infrastructure problem. It has become part of the city's daily reality. Residents of the capital calculate their time in the morning according to the road, choose their routes to avoid rush hour and feel the difference between a well-connected area and one frequently affected by traffic. That's why a new road can sometimes change the dynamics of an entire community. And in an overcrowded city, an extra route can mean more freedom of movement, predictability and less time spent in the car.
The data confirm this pressure felt daily by the inhabitants.
According to the TomTom Traffic Index 2025, Bucharest recorded an average level of congestion of 62.5%, and the average time needed to travel 10 kilometers was over 32 minutes. During peak hours, Bucharest drivers lose, on average, 171 hours in a year, the equivalent of more than 7 days spent in traffic. In the same ranking, Bucharest appears in 20th place globally according to the level of congestion and is indicated as the fifth most congested European city.
A new access road for members of the GREENFIELD Băneasa community
In this context, IMPACT Developer & Contractor, the developer of the GREENFIELD Băneasa complex, is investing 2.5 million euros in a new access road in the residential district, which will connect Aleea Teişani and the DNCB shoulder, next to the Hobanat Bridge. For this project, the company has submitted to the District 1 City Hall the necessary documentation to obtain the building permit. The new thoroughfare will cross the 301Bb Mogoșoaia – R. Pasărea railway and will include extensive works to automate the crossing over the railway.
The route starts from Aleea Teişani, goes up to the north, crosses the railway and, under the Hobanat Bridge, connects to Strada Horia, Cloșca and Crișan. From there, drivers can go west, towards DN1, with directions to Bucharest or Ploiești. On the way to Greenfield, the access is double, either from the Ring Road, entrance on the DNCB shoulder from the Lukoil roundabout, or from DN1, the area of the Brussels metro station on Highway 6.
In short, the road is not just a new entrance or exit from Greenfield, but a connecting link between the neighborhood and the major infrastructure of the north of the Capital. Instead of traffic concentrating almost exclusively on the existing access from Aleea Teișani, the new connection will distribute part of the flow to Strada Horia, Cloșca and Crișan and, further, to DN1, thus streamlining the connection between DN1 and the Ring Road.
The new access road will have two lanes and sidewalks in both directions. The works also include the installation of dedicated turning lanes and storage areas at the intersection with Strada Horia, Cloșca and Crișan, as well as lighting. Design, approval and execution costs will be borne by IMPACT, and the new road will be built on land owned by the developer. The works will start immediately after receiving the building permit and will last 6 months, according to the company.
The project is important for the residents of GREENFIELD Băneasa, but also for those from the north of the Capital. In an area where the DN1, the Otopeni Airport, the future M6 metro highway and the Băneasa commercial area are already part of the same mobility map, a new road link can matter for the way the residents of Bucharest and Ilfov county travel.
Successive investments in access and infrastructure
In 2025, IMPACT Developer & Contractor invested approximately 1 million euros in a new road that connects Drumul Pădurea Pustnicu, a public road located in the south of the residential complex, and Bulevardul Platanilor, a road inside the neighborhood. It is part of a network of more than 18 km of new, modern inland roads with wide pavements, built entirely by private investment.
The thoroughfare has an area of 3,000 m2, sidewalks and two lanes in each direction, separated by a median green space. It was designed to streamline traffic within the neighborhood and facilitate residents' access to Greenfield Plaza, the Wellness Club by Greenfield, and the public school and kindergarten under construction.
At the same time, the neighborhood also has an STB terminal that ensures the connection, through line 203, with the transport network of the Capital and with Piața Victoriei, one of the main urban mobility nodes in Bucharest.
