Polish citizen detained by Israeli forces in international waters

According to Rafał Piotrowski from Global Sumud Polska, Łukasz Kozak, an activist of Socialist Action, was intercepted in international waters at 12.24 Polish time, approximately 130 km from Cyprus and 460 km from Gaza. Two other Poles are still supposed to be on the remaining units: Agata Wisłocka and Kareem Awad.
Israeli troops boarded ships from the Sumud Flotilla. Poles among the sailors
Maciej Wiewiór, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, previously confirmed that Polish citizens may be among the flotilla participants. He assured that consular services remain in contact with EU partners and are ready to provide them with assistance.
Israel called on the flotilla to turn back, emphasizing on Platform X that it would not allow the naval blockade of Gaza to be breached. Shortly thereafter, Israeli soldiers boarded more than a dozen boats.
In a conversation with the commander of the operation, the Israeli head of government praised the “discreet” method of intervention, which “effectively thwarted the dastardly plan to break the isolation of Hamas terrorists” in Gaza, and at the same time “did not provide the publicity our enemies were counting on.”
Data from an interactive flotilla tracking map show that at least 26 vessels have been intercepted and a total of 36 boats are still heading towards Gaza.
The Sumud Flotilla departed from Marmaris last week, continuing a journey that began on April 12 in Barcelona. Its declared goal is to break the Israeli blockade and create a humanitarian corridor.
This is another such initiative of the Global Sumud Flotilla after nearly 500 people set off in the fall of 2025. Then Israel also intervened, activists were captured, taken to Israel and deported. April 30 this year Israel intercepted another flotilla of approximately 20 ships carrying humanitarian aid near the Greek island of Crete.
