Asked, on Digi 24, if there was an attempt to negotiate with the European Commission to postpone this milestone that expires on November 28, the deputy prime minister answered: “It has been and probably will be if we don't manage to finish.”

The Deputy Prime Minister added that there is no more room for further postponements: “We don't have time to delay anymore, because we have less than a year to finish the PNRR”.

Barna stated that Romania lost 7 billion euros anyway, “a colossal amount” for Romania's budget.

“Behind that amount there were thousands, maybe tens of thousands of projects that remained without funding. Well, some were not started, they were delayed. It is the fault of those who had the financing contracts and did not leave the tenders, did not start the works, did not complete the projects”said Tanczos.

For projects that can still be saved, Tanczos Barna asked for a “focus on projects, on payments, on implementation, on procedures as efficient and fast as possible, so that we can finish by the end of August”.

otherwise, “reforms can no longer be negotiated and postponed, because we have no way to promise any more”said Tanczos.

Recently, the CCR rejected the law that changes the retirement conditions of magistrates. The leader of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, declared that the law on the service pensions of magistrates cannot be finalized until the publication of the reasoning of the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR).

He stated that public discussions on this subject degenerated into an attack on him, although he has no direct responsibility regarding the status of magistrates.

Just one day before these statements, the president of the UDMR stated, on Monday evening, that in Romanian society there is “nervousness and dissatisfaction” due to the fact that the Government and the Parliament fail to solve the issue of magistrates' pensions.
